Wilmington, Del. — Today, the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL) announced that President and Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Thompkins, will depart the organization to accept a new role as President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh.
Thompkins has served as President and CEO of MWUL for the past four years, providing visionary leadership that strengthened the organization’s operational capacity, expanded community partnerships, and advanced programs focused on workforce development, economic empowerment, and educational equity across the Wilmington region. Over the coming weeks, she will work closely with the MWUL Board of Directors, staff, and key community stakeholders to ensure a smooth and thoughtful leadership transition.
“Jennifer has been an extraordinary leader for the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League,” said Stephen Williams, Chair of the MWUL Board of Directors. “Her commitment to service, strategic vision, and ability to bring people together have positioned this organization for continued growth and impact. While we will miss her deeply, we are incredibly proud of her and excited to see her talents elevate the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh.”
The MWUL Board of Directors will announce interim leadership plans, and launch a national search for Thompkins’ successor to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.

Thompkins will begin her new role as President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh effective February 2.
